How do I get my User ID and Password?

On your first day freelancing you’ll receive an email providing your User ID, Password, Services and some general timekeeping rules.


Are all projects billable?

No, we run several types of projects:
• Billable Client Projects
• Non-billable Client Projects (for unbillable work with a specific client)
• Non-billable Internal Projects – JPL00 (internal meetings, misc. admin)
• Non-billable Time Off Projects– JPL00
• Non-billable Marketing and PR Projects (internal work to promote JPL) – JPLMI, JPLLS, JPLPR, JPLCO


What are services?

A service is the type of work you perform, the professional skill you have and use for JPL and our clients. For example: Art Direction, SEO Maintenance, Project Management, Camera Operator, Application Development or Editing Consulting. Every JPL service has a definition. You’ll receive your services and definitions in the email with your login information.


Are all services billable?

No. Billable services have a prefix that reflects your department. For example, services
beginning with ‘CR_ ‘are Creative services; ‘DM_ ‘are Digital Marketing services. Non-billable
services begin with ‘zCO.’


What are those timekeeping rules you mentioned?

  1. Keep as accurate a timesheet as possible – if we have accurate time keeping, we have
    better project financials.
  2. Enter your time daily and provide notes under Billing Comments to describe what you
    did. A sentence or even a few words is helpful when projects are reviewed.
  3. Charge only billable services to billable projects.
  4. Do not charge non-billable services (zCO_) to a billable project.
  5. Non-billable internal projects are used to track internal (JPL) time. These projects contain
    JPL00 as the client code. You should charge only non-billable services (zCO) to these
    projects.
